About Brigid Lohrey
I’m Brigid Lohrey, an Australian Actor and Voice Artist with a passion for bringing stories to life. In 1999, I left my home state of Tasmania for a three-month backpacking adventure—but 25 years later, England is still home!
As a Voice Actor, I specialize in Audiobooks, Gaming, Animation, Commercials, and Radio Dramas, infusing every project with depth, emotion, and storytelling expertise. Whether narrating a gripping thriller, crafting compelling character voices for a game or animation, or delivering a captivating commercial, I bring my acting skills to every voiceover.

My Journey
From a young age, I was endlessly curious about people and loved to perform. I spent my childhood making up plays and persuading my long-suffering relatives to watch – imagination was something I never lacked!

When it came time to decide on a career, my mother gave me some wise advice: get a degree in something. Since I had an interest in science, I pursued a degree in Microbiology and Zoology, later working as a Microbiologist in both the beer and milk industries for several years. But no matter where I was, the pull toward performance never faded.
I had done small productions back in Tasmania, but once I took the leap and went backpacking in the UK, I knew it was time to follow my passion fully. I was fortunate to be accepted into The Academy Drama School in London, where I spent three years training in acting.

After graduation, I quickly immersed myself in theatre, embracing everything from new works to classical productions. Then I was invited to voice Dream Commando Wahn in Doctor Who: Dreamtime for Big Finish. That experience solidified my love for voice acting, and I soon began narrating audiobooks for the RNIB, alongside taking on more radio drama roles.
Fast forward 20 years, and I’m grateful to still be doing what I love, whether on stage, screen, or in the vocal booth. My work is wonderfully diverse, and every day brings new characters, voices, and opportunities to explore.
Other Passions
Volunteering
Beyond acting and voice work, I believe in collaboration and community. That’s why I volunteer with HypoHounds, a charity that trains scent-alert dogs for children with Type 1 Diabetes. As their Corporate Speaker, I regularly deliver talks for community groups, schools, and large events like the Kent County Show, Paws in the Park and Biddenden Tractorfest. One of my favourite roles? Hosting the fun dog shows, where I get to combine my love of compering with supporting a wonderful cause, and the occasional puppy cuddle!

Singing & Music

Music has always been part of my life. I’ve performed in Pantomimes and Children’s Musicals over the years, and I continue to train with Vocademy, regularly singing at concerts and open mic nights. I’m also available for singing gigs, with both a Musical Theatre set and a Through the Decades set—click to get in touch about bookings!
Face Painting & Creativity
Another passion of mine is Face Painting! I’ve always loved makeup, and after completing a face painting course, I began working with Follies, creating vibrant designs for children. It’s a joy to see their faces light up with colour and imagination. Click to view examples of my work!

LAMDA Examiner
Since 2014, I’ve been a LAMDA Examiner, assessing Performance and Communication exams across the UK and internationally.
And when I’m not performing, presenting, or painting, I love knitting, playing tennis, practicing yoga, and line dancing—because life is always more exciting with variety!
